Well done to all the competitors at this year’s RDA National Championships held at Hartpury College. The RDA National Championships is RDA’s flagship event, bringing together hundreds of competitors of all abilities in events including Carriage Driving, Countryside Challenge, Dressage, Showjumping, Vaulting and Showing.  This year’s 3 day event involved 85 groups from all over the UK, 384 competitors across 9 disciplines and 150 volunteers helping with everything from ground crew, to catering, to stewarding. Wow!

At LifewithArt we love this event and thoroughly enjoy having the opportunity to sponsor the arts and crafts competition. 2023 is our 10th year sponsoring the event! Many thanks to all of the artists who took the time to send in their amazing pieces of RDA inspired artwork!

The championships represent all activities within RDA.  It brings together RDA Groups from all over the UK, many travelling for hours to get to Hartpury from Scotland and Northern Ireland. Everyone supports each other. The atmosphere is for everyone to have fun and succeed.  The disco on Saturday night proves that we are all aiming for the same thing – the achievement of our disabled friends.  We all celebrate their successes.

“I am very grateful to all the supporters of the Championships.  It is an exceptional 3 days of competitions and without their financial support it just would not happen.   It is the largest horse show for disabled people in the World.  It is essential that it continues to offer a fantastic opportunity for our riders to aim for.

My personal highlight was meeting an 8-year-old rider suffering from bone cancer and watch his dressage to music which included walk, trot and canter. I know he was very nervous and anxious, but no one would have known that.”  Anne Coney, RDA’s National Lead for Championships
