If you’ve met Gogs you will know that he delightfully weaves the phrase ‘doodle do’ into most of his conversations, like ‘have a doodle do day’. Well, today he proclaimed “It is DOODLE DO done”, when he sewed his last stitch to his beautiful and unique felt waist coat that he has been creating for the past few months!

Gogs sporting his one-of-a-kind piece

Gogs is a part of the LwA Aberdeen class and has been attending since last July when he upcycled an old chair into a beautiful piece. He’s done the same but this time has used an old waistcoat that  Suzie found in a charity shop. At the beginning of the felting project, when everyone else was choosing handbags and fabric projects, Gogs declared that he wanted a felt waist coat. He said “I thought it would be a challenge and wanted to do something I never did before.”

When asked if he enjoyed making it, he said “it is what I would call ‘the business'”; Gogs really loved it! His plan is to wear this new piece and walk up and down Union Street and collect money for children in need. Gogs spent his early years, from 5 to 15, in children’s care and wants to give back.

A closer peek at ‘the business’

Gogs beams when he speaks about LifewithArt saying “I love it here, it gets me out and about and doing something new, I never thought I could do something like this”. As one of Gogs’ LwA tutors it made me most happy when he said “If it was on, I’d come here every day of the year!”.
