Looking at all the incredible photographs and comments from the Warrington workshops, I find it hard to believe the Charity Arts Centre has only been open for business since the middle of October. So much has been achieved by Sara Beavan-Widdowson and her team in such a short space of time. Working closely with Warrington Voluntary Action, a charity that supports the voluntary sector in Warrington, Sara has built close working relationships with local community groups including: the Warrington Craftworkers Guild, Burtonwood Sewing group and Sam’s Diamonds. So far, workshops have included an introduction to screen printing, lino printing, beautiful resin jewellery making and needle felting – the process of transforming wool into amazing 3D objects using a barbed needle. Feedback from the groups has been incredible and I, for one, can’t wait to see what they make next!

Burtonwood Sewing Group
A group who look to inspire and share sewing/textile crafting technique whilst, at the same time, bringing local people together to help prevent isolation, to develop friendships and encourage social inclusion in a rural community.

Warrington Craftworker’s Guild encourages members to develop craft skills whilst also promoting friendships.

Sam’s Diamonds. A friendly support group for ladies as they journey through their cancer treatment.

Yet another opportunity to learn a new skill. Caroline had everything set up for us and was able to get us up and running quickly. The resources on offer were brilliant and effective. All in all a very good informative session. Thanks also to Vicky for assisting and the tea making!
