A Dundee art student suffering from leukaemia has had a huge art exhibition held in her honour to thank Teenage Cancer Trust for their support. Judith Beattie is battling acute lymphoblastic leukaemia and has spent the best part of the last 5 months in hospital. She has been receiving treatment  in the TCT Ward at Beatson Hospital in Glasgow and the care has been so impressive she, and her twin sister Katie, decided to hold an art exhibition for TCT as a gesture of gratitude. Judith said “It drives you crazy being stuck in hospital. I don’t know what I would have done without the TCT unit. There’s a chill-out zone, a place to get drinks and snacks, to get your hair cut or, for most, to get the rest of your hair shaved off, to get your nails done and to have a massage and reiki.”

“I’d like to thank everyone who contributed to the event… and LifewithArt for lending us the space.”

The week long exhibition was held at the LifewithArt Charity Arts Centre in Glasgow at the end of February. Over 200 pieces were donated from Judith’s friends at art school, her family, and even a few pieces from Judith herself. A host of high-profile artists also donated included Hugh Rankin, Andy Peuthere, Robert Gould, Ann Galloway and Phyllis Mulligan. All the artwork has been on sale through Facebook and the twins’ funding total has now reached an amazing £12,000! All proceeds will go to TCT.

“We want to give something back to Teenage Cancer Trust. And for now, I just want to stay positive and out of hospital for as long as possible.”
