An auto-immune disease also known as the ragdoll illness. The body’s immune system attacks itself, weakening the voluntary muscles that control the eyes, face, throat, limbs and the muscles that help us breath. The name Myasthenia Gravis, literally means ‘grave muscle weakness’. Left untreated it can be dangerous and even life threatening.

Myasthenia Gravis Association exists to promote the welfare of sufferers from Myasthenia Gravis, Lambert-Eaton Myasthenic Syndrome (LEMS) and CMS Congenital Myasthenic Syndrome in the United Kingdom and Republic of Ireland. We offer support to Myasthenics and their families, increase public and medical awareness and raise funds for research in order to find a cure.

In the North West region we have been very grateful for the use of  LifewithArt’s Charity Arts Centres as we do not have regional offices. This has therefore given us the chance to promote our open days to people with Myasthenia Gravis so that they can drop in and gain advice, signposting and general information. Our drop in days have also helped us in our endeavours to recruit new volunteers and to raise vital income and awareness of Myasthenia Gravis the disease.
